Remote Assist allows users to collaborate in a mixed reality environment from various locations. Serving as a hands-free collaborative tool, the app allows customers to interact in mixed reality. Among the features available are image and media sharing. Microsoft Teams is also integrated with the app. As for Microsoft Layout, it gives customers an efficient way for importing 3D models into a virtual space. Room layouts with real-world scale are aditable through interactive virtual reality maps. Microsoft has been previewing the apps during the summer, including a trial with energy giant Chevron. The company describes how early adoption has helped Chevron expediate its problem solving: “Chevron is already achieving real, measurable results with its global HoloLens deployment. Previously it was required to fly in an inspector from Houston to a facility in Singapore once a month to inspect equipment. Now it has in-time inspection using Dynamics 365 Remote Assist and can identify issues or provide approvals immediately.”
While announced this week, Microsoft says Remote Assist and Layout will come to Dynamics 365 in October.
