Codenamed the LENOVO CB-01, the device will sit alongside the already launched efforts from HP and Asus. While the Chinese company has not launched the CB-01 (expect a CES launch next month), benchmarks have appeared. As you may expect, the benchmarks are not too dissimilar from the Asus and HP machines. Lenovo’s laptop features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM. It managed a score of 1142 points in Single-Core and about 4148 points in Multi-Core. There is also an 8GB variant of the CB-01 and it scored 1047 in Single-Core and 3445 in Multi-Core. This Windows 10 on ARM laptop with come with the Pro version of Microsoft’s platform. Speaking at the launch of the Always Connected PCs feature last month, Terry Myerson, EVP of Windows and Devices Group suggested Lenovo’s device is coming soon: “Along with our hardware partners HP and ASUS, we showed the world the first full-featured Always Connected PCs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset running Windows 10 and a new, optimized version of Office 365. ASUS and HP have worked hand in hand with us to deliver on pushing the boundaries of what a PC can do, and we continue to work closely with Lenovo as they build their own Always Connected PC.”
Snapdragon 845
These are very much the first generation of Windows 10 on ARM laptops. For a start, they are running the existing Snapdragon 835. Yes, that’s Qualcomm’s current flagship SoC, but it is soon to be replaced. The upcoming Snapdragon 845 will be at the forefront of a technological evolution. It will further the power and performance of Windows 10 on ARM. However, it will also boost artificial intelligence capabilities of mobile devices and open the door to 5G connectivity.
