Packaged with Windows 11 Preview build 22478, the update also makes some other important changes. For example, fixes for emojis in Fluent Design. Still, it is Update Stack Packages that is the main addition. However, Microsoft has not offered a lot of detail on the service. What the company does say is the packages are a method to “deliver update improvements outside of major OS updates, such as new builds.” Microsoft will use the feature to add improvements to the update pipeline before installation on a PC. At the moment, the new tool “is limited to a very small set of update-related system files that are developed independently of the OS,” officials said. At some point, the company will expand beyond the preview base to a wider Insider access before full release on Windows 11. “The Update Stack Package will help ensure that your PC has the highest likelihood of Update Stack Packages successfully installing new updates with the best and least disruptive experience available,” Microsoft adds. Insiders can now opt into getting the packages on the Windows servicing updates from Preview Build 22478 and onwards.
