This means developers who use Stack Overflow as a knowledge base can access the service within Teams. With this connected service (called Stack Overflow for Teams), users can directly access questions and answers. “By accessing Stack Overflow for Teams and a repository of knowledge without leaving Microsoft Teams, employees will spend less time searching for information and more time building great products,” said Mike Ammerlaan, director of Microsoft 365 Ecosystem at Microsoft. Among the benefits of the integration is that users can receive Stack Overflow notifications directly in Teams. Furthermore, the add-in also provides a search for existing answers and the ability to start a question without leaving Microsoft Teams.

Features

Microsoft says the feature is open to Stack Overflow users on the service’s Basic and Business subscriptions. These are not the public facing version of the service most people see online. “Today, tens of millions of workers rely on Microsoft Teams to collaborate in real time. We’re thrilled to be integrating Stack Overflow for Teams with Microsoft Teams,” said Prashanth Chandrasekar, CEO of Stack Overflow. “This will allow users to easily search, update, and share information exchanged in chat. The end result is less context-switching and fewer repeated questions, meaning teams can be more productive and the best information will rise to the top.” Microsoft Teams users leverage a chat bot on the platform to receive answers from Stack Overflow. Stack Overflow and Microsoft are long-time collaborators. Among the partnerships between the companies include Stack Overflow Documentation. Microsoft integrated Stack Overflow into the docs.microsoft.com API reference in the future. Though the service was developed by Stack Overflow alone, users of Docs will see the benefits.
