If you have already downloaded Windows 10 20 H1 preview build 18922 and not seen the new Cortana app, that’s because it is hidden. Twitter user and Microsoft watcher Albacore discovered the app before further details we released. Like the old Cortana Beta experience, the new application is still located by Windows Search in the taskbar. However, it now features a new UI experience. Microsoft seems to be transitioning the mobile UI it uses on iOS and Android to Windows 10. Highlighting Microsoft’s apparent continued commitment to the Universal Windows Platform, the Cortana Beta is a full UWP app. That means it will run equally across any Windows 10 device where UWP apps are supported.

— Albacore (@thebookisclosed) June 19, 2019 Rudy Huyn, the former Windows Phone developer, added more details about the app. He says it is a Microsoft Store app. This means it can be updated at any time, unlike some other native Windows 10 apps that must wait for Windows Updates. Microsoft is now able to roll out updates for Cortana Beta whenever it needs to.

Improved Notifications

Last week, Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 20H1 Preview Build 18917, which made some key improvements to the Action Center. Included in Windows 10 build 18917, there is a new “Manage notifications” section within the Action Center. Users can find the Manage notifications button in the top right corner of the Action Center. This is a simple enough addition that allows users to access settings for notifications and actions more easily.
